Aruba - the first visit

Today, we docked in Aruba. We will be back here in nine days on the second part of this back-to-back cruise.

Aruba is pretty much a desert island with only about 15-inches of rain falling annually.  We were lucky enough to witness about 0.5-inches of that annual rainfall today as it poured as soon as we docked and then rained intermittently throughout the day.

We had no plans, so in between the rains, we walked through town and did a little shopping.  Aruba required masks both indoors and outdoors but did allow on-your-own activities unlike several of the other islands.

There were two other ships in port - the Norwegian Joy and the Freewinds.  Arlona looked that one up and found that it is owned by the Church of Scientology. It looks essentially empty.  The Joy was also not carrying passengers, so while the port looked busy, it really was just us on the Equinox, and we are only at half-capacity.

Once we returned to the ship - it was more food, drink, reading, and such and we called it a night a little early.

Tomorrow, we make our first of two visits to Curacao.
