World Cruise Day 72/152 - Sea Day - The internet sucks even more - HELP US VIKING

Cruise day: 72/152
Ports days: 23
Sea days: 49
Countries: 10
Continents: 4
Ports: 16

Just when you think the internet can't get any worse, Viking sets new standards for really crappy internet. It has taken me well over an hour to load these really small photos and restart this process several times due to lost connections.  It is almost comical at this point.  Luckily, internet access was included as part of our cruise fare.  If I was paying extra for this level of crap service, I'd be even madder.

We met a really nice couple on board, Jake & Peggy.  If you've ever enjoyed a Leinenkugel's beer, especially a Summer Shandy (my favorite), this is the guy to thank.  It is Jake Leinenkugel.  He and Peggy are extremely personable and gracious and it has been a pleasure to meet them.

Today was a typical sea day, other than the fact that the internet was even worse than usual.  Lunch featured tomatoes of all varieties.

We attended bridge lessons and then played bridge for an hour before a pitiful trivia performance.  Our long list of not-even-close answers:
  • What is a group of hedgehogs called?
    • Prickle
  • Where was the caesar salad invented?
    • Mexico
  • Who was the first president to live in the white house?
    • John Adams
  • Steven Spielberg won his first best director academy award for what film?
    • Shindler's List
  • Who was the first woman inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?
    • Aretha Franklin
  • What video game franchise has made the most money?
    • Pokemon
  • What city is known as the glass capital of the world?
    • Toledo, Ohio
Lunch featured a wide variety of tomatoes as well as other dishes.

Arlona's art project today was a bracelet.  She's building out a very nice set.

Dinner tonight was Spanish-themed and was centered around these amazing paellas.

My hand is added for scale

Other tapas were available

Of course, they were slicing an iberico ham

Freshly made churros were available for dessert

After dinner, we attended a mixology class.  With the chilly weather yesterday, they made hot drinks featuring bull shots, hot toddys, and hot butter rum drinks.

I was selected to make the hot toddys.

Tomorrow, we'll be on Mallorca, specifically in Palma.  Fingers crossed for decent weather.  And...better internet. (not expecting the later...)

  1. Still enjoying every day!!! Tell Jake that my husband's mom and sister lived in Bloomer, WI for many years (sister's husband still does). We used to walk to the neighborhood tavern and get a Leinenkugel for a dime. Husband and brother in law went on a brewery tour in Chippewa Falls. Back in the day you could sit in the tasting room for hours. And they did. Came back with Leinenkugel's mugs, thermometers, shirts, hats....those 2 never wanted to spend money. The beer loosened their wallets. Thank goodness they made it home....as I said, that was back in the day!!!! Still fans, many more to choose from. I think there was only one back then. Keep enjoying...loving reading about every day!
