20240410 Sapphire Princess South Pacific Cruise Day 7 - Last sea day...for now

Sapphire Princess South Pacific Cruise Day 7 - More sea day activities - tomorrow - land!

We continue our Pacific crossing toward Hawaii. Tomorrow morning, we'll be docking in Honolulu on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Through the Facebook group for this cruise, we have hooked up with another couple and will be taking a private island tour around Oahu. We've been here before and done the essentials - a Punchbowl tour, Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial, a luau - you get the idea. So tomorrow, we'll be getting a tour from a local, seeing the other sights around the island.

Today, however, we remain on the ship, doing typical ship things like trivia, ukulele lessons, eating, drinking, and being entertained.

Let's start with the ocean. It was a little rougher today than the last few days.

Nothing major, but definite ship movement. Of course, here in our forward cabin, we feel it a little more than the folks midship, but that's fine with us.

As for trivia today, we did fairly well across the game, but of course, we failed on some questions.
  • Who was the Roman god of fire?
    • Vulcan - we guessed Pyro
  • Where did doughnuts originate?
    • We guessed Germany - it was Belgium
  • Coprastasophobia is the fear of (constipation, police, or coconuts)
    • Constipation - a crappy answer
  • How many states are in Mexico?
    • We guessed 13 - it was 32
  • What is the most visited city in the world?
    • We guessed New York - it was Paris
  • How many countries are in America - all parts?
    • 57
  • What year was Queen Elizabeth born?
    • 1926
For lunch, we grabbed the prepared sandwiches at the International Cafe. They were OK, but I would recommend getting lunch at another venue on the ship.

We relaxed and read on our limited-view deck this afternoon before our late afternoon trivia and then drinks and dinner.  One thing we learned from a bartender is that Moscato by the glass is part of our drink package.

Since that is about the only wine we like, that made us very happy. I can't understand why other cruise lines don't offer Moscato. Are you listening, Viking and Oceania?

Dinner in the International Dining Room featured Italian tonight so I decided to show you the menu.

We both opted for the shrimp and scallops but swapped garlic mashed potatoes for the sweet potato mash. It was good, but the scallops weren't overly tasty and a few were a little rubbery. Still, it was a pretty good dinner. The lemon meringue cheesecake was terrific for dessert.

We headed to the Explorers Bar for the evening. We played a Love Boat trivia all about the show, The Love Boat. That show featured the Pacific Princess ship and had a veritable who's who of Hollywood stars as guests over its ten-season run from 1977 - 1987. We didn't do well, but it was fun.

Guest performer, Michale Minor played a second show, this time, in the Explorers Bar. It was entertaining, with songs and ventriloquism.

The exceptional bar team of Simon and Branko were keeping things light and well-lubricated

Tonight, we gain another hour, moving to UTC-10, or six hours behind the U.S. East Coast. Tomorrow, we'll be setting an alarm as we're supposed to meet our guide at 8:30 A.M. on the pier in Honolulu for what should be a fun day.
