20250101 Seabourn Sojourn Grand Africa Cruise Day 37/96 - Sea Day

Grand Africa Cruise Trip Day 37/96 - Sea Day pampering

A rose showed up in our suite - Seabourn does a nice job taking care of the little things

It appears that staying up past midnight has an effect as we didn't roll out of bed until 9:30 this morning.

There was no morning competition like Baggo in a nod to sleeping in.

Trivia went better today and we had a decent showing, solidly in a tie for third place. Our misses:
  • The town of Toledo, Spain is known for producing what product?
    • We guessed scales - it was bladed weapons
  • What female recording artist was the first to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice?
    • We were torn between Tina Turner and Stevie Nicks, we guessed Tina it was Stevie
  • The bonus question was to name the alphabetically first ten countries with a name that ends in "ia"
    • We got eight, incorrectly including Czechia and Estonia and not Armenia and Columbia
    • The full list of 40 countries is Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Colombia, Croatia, Estonia, Ethiopia, French Polynesia, Gambia, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Latvia, Liberia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mauritania, Micronesia, Mongolia, Namibia, New Caledonia, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Saint Lucia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Somalia, Syria, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia.
Today, Arlona's art projects included a beaded necklace and a twisted beaded bracelet.

This afternoon's competition featured a shuffleboard ladder tournament. I tried my hand and was eliminated in roughly 30 seconds. It appears that it isn't my thing. I did see this on the way up to Deck #11.

What's that in the corner?

It appears that the new passengers in Cape Town brought new ducks on and are hiding them

I keep forgetting to write about something that happened a couple of days ago, but since I remembered now, I will share it.

We were wrapping up another very nice meal in The Restaraunt with one of our favorite crew members, Kristoff serving the meal. As we were looking at the dessert menu, Arlona mentioned that they never offer mint chocolate chip gelato and that it is one of my favorites. Kristoff said that he is friends with the pastry chef and he would talk to the chef.

The next day, we went to Colonnade for lunch. Coral, a manager, met us at the door and said that we should check the dessert display. Sure enough, there was a pan of mint chocolate chip gelato. Then, Kristoff found me and said that every night in The Restaraunt, chocolate chip gelato would be available for me for the rest of our journey. Simply, wow. It's a little thing, but the crew listened and acted to make our trip a little better by providing a favorite food. We are pretty impressed with Seabourn's service.

We got a call around 4:45 asking if we would like to attend a hosted dinner this evening with singer Ronnie and dancer, Matti. We said we would so suddenly, we had dinner plans. We pre-gamed dinner in the Observation Bar and Arlona caught a nice sunset off the port side of the ship.

Dinner in The Restaraunt was terrific as always. It was a small table with only one other guest so that made for a much more intimate setting and great conversation among everyone.

Comedy Magician Mandy Muden performed her second show. The magic she performs is modest at best but it doesn't matter. Her personality, energy, and borderline naughtiness steal the show, making the magic a costar. We had a fun time and enjoyed her performance.

It was another good day at sea aboard Seabourn Sojourn and a nice start to 2025. We have one more sea day to go before we arrive in Ilha de Moçambique, Mozambique on January 3.
