Grand Africa Cruise Trip Day 70/96 - Sea Day Routine
![]() |
Captain Hamish left us in Cape Town and retired so we now have Captain Kyriakos calling the shots from the Bridge - he seems like a great guy |
Over the past nearly two weeks, we've been off the ship for a week and in ports for four days, sailing only one day between South Africa and Namibia on smooth seas. We did sail overnight, but for the most part, we were in bed. Today is the first day we've been sailing in nearly two weeks. It's fun to be on a moving ship again, and by moving, I mean rocking and rolling. The seas weren't too bad, but we were definitely rocking fore/aft and side/side.
I'd like to blame that for my performance at Baggo this morning, but it was really just me, getting overly aggressive and not getting into the finals. We had a round of call-your-shot where you scored the points you called if you made the shot but lost those points if you missed. It was another fun time.
Before I get into today, which frankly isn't terribly interesting, I want to share some thoughts on the two ports we just visited in Namibia. We knew nothing about Namibia. We had low expectations. We were pleasantly surprised. Namibia was lovely. There were interesting things and places to see. It was clean. It was modern. We would consider coming back here. So, take that for what it's worth - we liked Namibia.
On to the rest of today.
We started progressive trivia today. We will compete every sea day until we reach The Canary Islands. We did well and will be in the hunt. The goofs:
- How many Bond movies featured Judy Dench as M?
- We guessed 5 - nobody got the right answer of 8
- Who boxed in a famous boxing match in Madison Square Garden on March 8, 1971?
- We guessed Ali-Liston but it was Ali-Frazier
- In a controversial bonus, they asked for the busiest airport in the world.
- We guessed Atlanta but they said it was Dubai - multiple internet sources all give different answers with several sources saying Atlanta and several saying Dubai - Nick said that tomorrow, he would toss that question out as it simply wasn't a good question
