20250205 Seabourn Sojourn Grand Africa Cruise Day 72/96 - Sea Day

Grand Africa Cruise Trip Day 72/96 - Sea Day Activities

It was sea day 3/6 and because of other scheduling issues, everything started 30 minutes later today. That meant a little more sleep and that was a good thing.

They held an officers versus guest Baggo tournament today and it was great fun. A guest competed directly against an officer. There were more folks participating today than I have seen so far on this journey. The top four guests and top four officers then competed against each other in a quarter-final. The top four then competed head-to-head in a semi-final and then the top two competed in a final. I was lucky enough to come away with the win and Baggo glory, at least for a day.

Trivia was rough and we missed too many questions today.

  • What type of food is madrilene?
    • We guessed cake - nobody got the correct answer - soup
  • Who was the first country music artist with an album that sold 10 million copies?
    • We guessed Johnny Cash, but it was Garth Brooks
  • What is the tallest mountain in Canada?
    • We guessed Whistler - it was Mount Logan, the second highest in North America after Denali
  • What jazz singer's birth name was Eleanora Fagan?
    • We guessed Ellz Fitzgerald - it was Billie Holiday
  • Name the five original M&M colors
    • We got red, brown, green, and yellow, but guessed orange when it was violet
We need a few good days to get back into the game as the lead team got nearly everything correct today.

Arlona's beading today centered around making a bracelet and earrings to match the bracelet she made a couple of days ago.

I participated in a putting challenge this afternoon. They made it challenging with a hole you couldn't put directly to, and putting with one hand. I finished in the top three but out of the prizes.

Corporate Cruise Director, John Barron, hosted a game this afternoon called Wheel of Fortune.  Each team got sheets with ten puzzles. Each puzzle was themed as a movie, a location, person/people. Each team got a chance to name a consonant. John would let everyone know where that letter appeared in the puzzle. Each team got to call two consonants as long as they appeared in the puzzle. If your team knew the puzzle and it was your turn, you could answer and win the word.

Several teams knew the answers to puzzles but it wasn't their turn to answer. We wound up with the most matches, winning the game and a Seabourn prize.

We went to the observation Bar a little before their scheduled opening at 5:30. Seabourn was hosting a private event for the Canadians onboard. A short time later, they opened the doors and we were able to secure a drink before dinner.

Tonight, we were invited to a hosted dinner in The Restaurant. Resident artists, Tim and Young Mi McKay were our hosts. We had a nice time and chatted about a wide range of topics with the hosts and the other guests.

We popped by the room. We are changing time zones again tonight, gaining an hour. We will adjust accordingly. This time change takes us to UTC+1 or six hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast to align with the time in Benin.

Tonight's show featured saxophonist, Oli Nez

It was an entertaining show and featured the excellent Seabourn house band. We enjoyed it.

Even with the gain of an hour, we were tired and returned to the suite after the show. We have another sea day tomorrow with more of the same activities.
