World Cruise - Day (-2)/152 - The preparation
It's finally happening! Our World Cruise is right around the corner and with our negative COVID test results today, we are good to go!
We did our Walgreens rapid antigen test this morning at about 10:15 am and had our results before noon. Happy dance!
Now that it is all real, we need to get busy. Laundry is in the dryer so all our clothes are clean and available for packing. We have dinners with friends the next two nights and will be cleaning out the fridge since we'll be gone for five months.
This afternoon, and mainly tomorrow, are dedicated to actually packing suitcases. Yeah, we know that many other cruisers have packed and repacked several times now, but that's not how we roll. We usually pack the night before, or, the day of a typical cruise. But for five months, that needs another day of prep!
In reality, Arlona has been building a small pile of necessities, but from an actual packing standpoint, that will begin soon. Tomorrow, we'll wash the sheets so we'll only have one night in them before we leave. We are also trading in our vehicle and will be going to the dealer tomorrow to turn that in. A shiny new one should be waiting for us when we get back at the end of May.
The car service is scheduled to pick us up Friday morning at 8 AM for the four-ish-hour drive to Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale. Our entire trip spans 152 days, with 83 of those spent in port in 33 countries and 69 at sea, at least for now. We expect a dynamic itinerary as the world keeps changing, and we plan to roll with the changes and have a grand adventure!
Watch this space as I'll be posting as we progress. Time to pack!
looking forward to hearing about Viking cruises cruise safely
