Celebrity Silhouette cruise day 7 - Village People
Trip day: 7 / 21
Weather. It seems we have plenty of it. 54F, 45MPH winds, rain, 12-foot swells - we've got it all here on our third consecutive sea day! Morning came early again, thanks to last night's change to UTC, otherwise known as Greenwich Mean Time or four hours ahead of time at home on the east coast of the US.
After breakfast, we went to the third progressive trivia. While we did better today, we had a couple of dumb misses that we slapped ourselves for.
- What martial art's name means "gentle way"?
- We thought it was Tai Kwon Do, but it is Judo
- What creature was the first launched into space by the US?
- We thought it was a monkey, but it was mice
- What was the first non-human to win an Oscar?
- We were thinking of an animal, but it was a cartoon - Mickey Mouse
- Who was the first democratically elected president in Russia?
- Boris Yeltsin
- In what country did Chess originate?
- We thought it was Russia, but it was India
- What is the capital of Oregon?
- We fail US geography as we just couldn't come up with Salem - doh
Celebrity put it up on the Community Board and also sent voicemail messages to all the Villager's staterooms |
I checked with the activity coordinator and she said they reached out to 19 cabins so there are at least 38 Villagers on the Silhouette right now. We'll see how many show up at 3PM!
At the advice of our daughter, we had been watching the show, Jury Duty on the streaming service, FreeVee. We watched the first six episodes before we came on this trip. The final two episodes dropped the day after we sailed, so we figured that we would watch them when we got home. Since the internet has been so good, I turned on my VPN (so the laptop looked like it was in the US), went to FreeVee, and attempted to stream episode #7. Much to my surprise, not only did it stream, but it streamed in 1080P high definition. Wow. Color me impressed with Starlink. We watched the final two episodes. By the way, if you haven't heard of Jury Duty, check it out on Freevee.
At lunch, we caught sight of the first vessel since we departed Bermuda.
At 3 o'clock, we went up to deck 14 and the Connect Room at the Meeting Place. We were a little underwhelmed at the showing as only seven out of the 38 of us showed up. Still, we had a great time meeting with neighbors and spent about a half-hour sharing stories. I still rate it a success and the other Villagers don't know what they missed.
Villagers make up about 2.5% of the passengers on this sailing |
With the gathering ending earlier than expected, we were able to make afternoon trivia for another mediocre performance. The should-have-knowns:

Good news Villagers. Tucker was on the internet tonight. He really is a Russian agent.
