20250512 Regent Seven Seas Voyager Cruise Bangkok to Dubai, Day 21 - Arabian Sea sailing

Regent Seven Seas Voyager Bangkok to Dubai Day 21 - A well-deserved sea day in the Arabian Sea

Ahhh, a sea day. We needed one following the busy schedule over the last few days. Before we get into today, I updated yesterday's post with information I forgot to include. I'll mention it here so you don't have to go back and look at yesterday's post.

1) When we arrived at the ship, the General Manager and Cruise Director headlined a cast that welcomed all of us back to the ship. There were porters to carry luggage, cool towels, and chilled champagne once we boarded. It was a complete about-face from the nothing we experienced when we initially boarded.

2) I forgot to mention that Mumbai was called Bombay until 1995, when India changed the name to remove references to British rule.

OK - let's get to today's activities.

It was a sea day. That meant no commitments, which was good. Of course, we took part in all the points activities today. That included:

  • 10:15 - shuffleboard
  • 11:15 - Officers vs Guests Baggo
  • 2:15 - Skittles bowling
  • 3:15 - Golf putting challenge
  • 4:25 - Mensa challenge
  • 4:30 - Trivia
We fit breakfast, lunch, and dinner in there too.

Arlona - setting the standard, burying all three bags into the hole, and winning her match

I was off a bit today, but still tied, which counted as a win for the guests

Arlona, tossing the ball at the skittles

I used an overhand toss and scored the only strike for max points

The putting challenge had us putting over a ramp and then up another ramp into the hole

The games are all silly fun, and they get guests together, cheering each other on.

The Mensa challenge is a daily mental challenge. Papers are left out with five or six brainteaser questions. If you solve them, they go over the answers and award a Regent point right before the start of trivia. We solved today's challenge and scored a point.

Trivia today was a bit of a bust as we came in fourth and out of the points. There have been rumors about teams cheating by using their cell phones to look up answers. The cruise director even mentioned it in his daily announcement. If you have to cheat to win cruise ship trivia, you sure have issues. Our misses today:
  • On The Flintstones, what was the name of Barney and Betty's pet?
    • We had no idea - it was a dinosaur/kangaroo hybrid named Hoppy ot Hoparoo
  • Hathor was a sky god in what mythology/religion?
    • We guess Norse, but it was Egyptian
  • What was the name of Beethoven's only opera (also the name of the ship's software that tracks guests)?
    • Fidelio
  • What type of animal is a Jacob?
    • We guessed wolf - it was a sheep
  • What kind of animal is a Redpoll?
    • We guessed fish - it was a bird
  • Froot Loops come in red, green, blue, yellow, and violet - what flavor is each color?
    • Trick question - they all taste the same
We went to Sette Mari at La Veranda again for dinner. We ate a light dinner tonight as we were both still a little worn out from the Taj Mahal trip. We have another sea day tomorrow before arriving in Dubai on Wednesday afternoon.
