Regent Seven Seas Voyager Bangkok to Dubai Day 22 - Another sea day in the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Oman
It was another sea day, so we had more sea day games to play. Bocce, Skeeball against the officers, roll-a-ball, and what they call top toss (ladder ball).
 |
We started the morning up on Deck #12 for a little head-to-head bocce |

It was crazy-windy - check out Arlona's hair |
 |
Next up was skeeball |
 |
Arlona tied the General Manager, Jeff |
 |
I played the Captain |
 |
I came away with the win - these games are the only times we see managers out and about interacting with guests |
For lunch, we opted to see if they would make a custom pizza in La Veranda. They did, but it wasn't straightforward getting it done. That's been a big difference on this cruise - zero customization. Avid readers know that Viking and Seabourn bent over backward to work with us to make biscuits and sausage gravy for us for breakfast. Based on the attitudes we've encountered in La Veranda, we never considered asking them for anything like that. It doesn't work like that here.
 |
Our pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom pizza - it was just OK, not the best pizza at sea |
 |
This afternoon featured roll-a-ball, where you had to roll a ball into different scoring arches |
 |
It was much more difficult than it seemed |
 |
Finally, we competed in what they call Top Toss, otherwise known as Ladder Ball |
We have a couple more chances to win points tomorrow morning before cashing in our points for Regent swag tomorrow at 1:00.
We finished the Mensa challenge and then competed at trivia. It was a rough day. We were well out of the running today. One team scored a perfect score. Given the difficulty in today's questions, it supported the ongoing theory that one team is using the internet during the game. Oh well. Our long list of mistakes:
- In mythology, what twins founded Rome?
- Romulus and Remus - we should have known this, as Arlona remembered seeing their statues in Pisa
- What is the shadow boxing aspect of karate called?
- What native was rescued by Robinson Crusoe?
- What is Latin for "things to do"?
- What is the capital of Zimbabwe?
- What branch of physics deals with sounds and their waves?
- Acoustics - we could only think of audiology, even though we knew that wasn't it
Oh well.
Tonight was the second and final optional formal night for this cruise. We dressed up and hit the Observation Bar before going to Compass Rose for dinner.
We wound up sharing a table with a very nice Scottish couple and enjoyed a nice meal and good conversation.
Tonight, we set the clocks back the final hour for this cruise, aligning with United Arab Emirates time at UTC+4 or eight hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast. We're most of the way through the Gulf of Oman on our way to the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf before docking in Dubai tomorrow at 4:00 in the afternoon. We'll tour Dubai tomorrow night and then have one more day in Dubai before our overnight flight home.
