20250213 Seabourn Sojourn Grand Africa Cruise Day 80/96 - Sea Day

Grand Africa Cruise Trip Day 80/96 - Sea Day 3/4 - Baggo, Trivia, Ice Cream, Putting, and a Show - Another Basic Sea Day

Day number three of four at sea found is continuing along the west coast of northern Africa. We passed the Liberia / Sierra Leone border, continuing our way northwest.

After breakfast, we started the day as we typically do - with Baggo. I played again today, and once again, I fought my way through playoffs, scoring another win and another Seabourn travel umbrella.

Sending a bag into scoring territory, for the win

Arlona worked on beading again today, adding pieces to sets she already made. This resulted in complete sets with a necklace, a bracelet, and earrings.

Trivia today was...well...interesting. It was extremely hard today. But the interesting part was when Nick asked a question, and the answer did have some debatable points. One guest went off the deep end, arguing to the point that it became ridiculous. A saving grace was that the officers were also playing trivia today. The Captain came over and escorted the irate guest out of The Club and had a "Discussion". We can only assume that the Captain reminded them that he needed to keep everything in perspective and that we were playing for a hat or other trivial prize. After a few minutes, the guest returned, calmer. Kudos to the Captain for his leadership in this area. And wow, lighten up, dude! It's a game!

Anyway, here are the misfires we had today.
  • MI5 and MI6 - What does the "MI" stand for?
    • These are the UK's spy agencies so we reasoned it was "Ministry of Intelligence" - nope, it was simpler - Military Intelligence
  • Which of the seven dwarfs didn't have a beard?
    • I had a brain malfunction and said it was Bashful - of course, it was Dopey
  • How often does Haley's Comment return to Earth?
    • Again, I was pretty sure it comes every 87 years - it was 76 years
  • Who played Rudolph Valentino in the 1977 biopic by Ken Russell>
    • We had no idea - it was Rudolf Nureyev
There was an interactive bonus again today - identify all these partial fashion logos.

The answers:
  1. H&M
  2. Levis
  3. Addidas
  4. Calvin Klein
  5. Burberry - we missed this one
  6. Rolex
  7. Chanel
  8. Versace
  9. Tommy Hilfiger
  10. Nike
We attended this afternoon's ice cream social on the pool deck but neither one of us ate any ice cream, gelato, or sorbet. We just enjoyed music from Amy and the trio and the sun.

I participated in putting on Deck #11 today. They really mixed it up today with unusual challenges. We had one very long putt, another where you had to putt across a hole, and the final challenge, putt to a hole where dancer, Matti was standing, blocking the front of the hole with his feet. We had to put past the hole and then come back.

Seabourn Six Dancer, Matti, proving to be a formidable defender of the hole

The ship was moving back and forth today and the wind was extremely strong. All these things impacted the putts dramatically. It was fun and different. I didn't win but fell somewhere in the top four or five.

We enjoyed some pre-dinner cocktails in the Observation Bar before a nice dinner in The Restaurant

As we dined, the sun made a non-dramatic farewell into the clouds

Fleet Cruise Director, John Barron, performed an all-new show tonight. He is an absolute bundle of energy and a terrific performer.

John with the band

He did several Elton John songs

He did a duet with Cruise Director, Nick, but of course, I forgot to take a photo of that - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

Singing Love Boat and channeling a 1970s cruise director

Getting the audience to sing, Ride, Sally, Ride, during Wilson Pickett's Mustang Sally

The show was energetic and sprinkled with his offbeat humor. We had a great time.

Tomorrow is our final sea day of this four-day run.
